Fatal 18 Wheeler Accident Kills Heavy Metal Band Tour Bus Driver

The tour bus driver for the heavy metal band The Ghost Inside was killed in a fatal 18 wheeler accident near El Paso last week. Gregory Hoke, the tour bus driver, and Steven Cunningham, the driver of the tractor trailer both perished in the fatal 18 wheeler accident. Three members of the band were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. At least seven other people traveling on the band’s tour bus were taken to local hospitals, with at least two listed in critical condition.

Details of Fatal 18 Wheeler Accident

The fatal 18 wheeler accident occurred just after 9 am on Thursday morning. The bus was traveling westbound on Highway 180, about 24 miles east of El Paso. The fatal 18 wheeler accident happened near the interchange between U.S. 62 and Highway 180, just a few miles near the Border Patrol checkpoint in El Paso. The tractor trailer was traveling eastbound when the two vehicles collided head-on. Both the tour bus driver and the tractor trailer driver were declared dead at the scene.

According to a press release from the band’s management company, at least three band members suffered serious injuries in the fatal 18 wheeler accident. Drummer Andrew Tkaczykt, lead singer Jonathan Vigil and guitarist Zach Johnson, were airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso via helicopter and listed in critical condition. Bassist Jim Riley and touring guitarist Chris Davis were were taken from the scene of the fatal 18 wheeler accident by ambulance. News reports show that they were listed in stable condition.

DPS Investigates Fatal 18 Wheeler Accident

Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety were on site investigating the causes of the fatal 18 wheeler accident. The agency has yet to release the findings of its investigation. State and local authorities closed off the highway for several hours as they examined the fatal 18 wheeler accident site and removed the wreckage. DPS Trooper Moises Vasquez told reporters that their investigation accounted for all eleven people riding in the bus, including the driver, and that the ten passengers in the bus were all taken to local hospitals.

Band Cancels Tour After Fatal 18 Wheeler Accident

The band’s management canceled a show in Mesa, Arizona, that was scheduled for the day after the fatal 18 wheeler accident. A statement from the management company thanked the band’s fans for their concerns and said that “all 5 band members + all members of the crew are alive” after the fatal 18 wheeler accident. The statement also told fans that “all U.S. shows on the Locals Only Tour are canceled” and directed ticket buyers to get their refunds at the point of purchase.
